As co-owner and President of Simmons-Shelly Entertainment Studios formerly B2 Entertainment Studios LLC, a mini film and television studio based in Atlanta, Georgia, Tracey Baker- Simmons has etched her name into becoming one of the film industry’s top female producers. She oversees all aspects of the company and its divisions and serves as executive producer on all projects. Tracey is a seasoned film and television producer with more than 14 years of experience in production.  

Tracey established B2 Entertainment Studios LLC with her close friend and partner, Wanda Shelley. With the company just starting out, Tracey and Wanda had several film and television projects in development. By 2005, Tracey along with her partner Wanda and their new production company became the Executive Producers and Co-Creators of the Bravo hit reality series Being Bobby Brown starring controversial music legends Bobby Brown and Whitney Houston. With the executive production credit of this show, it opened up the doors for other opportunities and partnerships with major networks. Their recent credits includes a reality series entitled Platinum House which they co-executive produced with legendary platinum producer Keith Sweat and Keia Productions starring platinum artists Dru Hill.

Graduating from the University of Memphis with a degree in Marketing and Finance, Tracey began her career at Warner Brothers Music in the marketing and promotions department. She made her transition into film production producing regional commercials for LeRoux Motion Pictures in Atlanta, Georgia.                 

Tracey then moved to Westside Stories and began producing for directors Keith Ward and Julie Dash. From 1992 onward, she produced hundreds of music videos and television commercials, working with popular Hip Hop R&B artists such as Brandy, Immature, Montell Jordan, Arrested Development, and NAS. Her award- winning television commercials ranged from Coca-Cola and Sprite to McDonald’s and MCI.  

In 1998, Tracey launched Strange Fruit Films, a multi-faceted production company, with several partners. She served as Executive Producer and oversaw the production of various music video projects for Jeff Byrd, who recently directed the film King’s Ransom starring Anthony Anderson. Tracey produced the 2002 independent feature film The Book of Love, also directed by Jeff Byrd and starring Sallie Richardson, Robin Givens, Treach of Naughty by Nature, and Richard T. Jones of Judging Amy.  

After resigning from Strange Fruit Films, Tracey began to work towards starting her own film production company with a new vision and innovative creative structure. During the early stages of establishing the building blocks of her new company, she worked as a freelance producer in television production, which clients such as distributor Pearson Television and television networks ABC and CBS.  

Her professional accolades include Women in Film Atlanta Chapter, IFP, NATPE, and NAFE. She was honored by Atlanta Woman Magazine as one the Top 25 Women to Watch and currently is an instructor at the Goizuetta Business School at Emory University in the fall as part of their senior seminar. Always finding time to energize the next generation of filmmakers, she hosts workshops for teens interested in film production at the YMCA and Clark Atlanta University and teaches production at various other local organizations.
